Carrier 1 – quick red flags

  • Experience requirements (recent OTR/local/regional as defined by carrier).
  • Job history limits (commonly max 3 in 12 mo, 4 in 36 mo).
  • No DOT recordables in past 3 yrs.
  • Criminal/DUI windows vary (check profiles).

Carrier 2 – quick red flags

  • Experience: minimum verified tractor trailer seat time required.
  • DUI: generally none within last 5–7 yrs.
  • Abandonments/terminations may trigger no-rehire.
  • Criminal history reviewed case by case.

Carrier 3 – quick red flags

  • Recent OTR mandatory for most divisions.
  • Max number of jobs within last year strictly enforced.
  • Drug/SAP issues = auto DQ for many carriers.
  • Major preventable accidents (rollover, rear-end) within 3–5 yrs = DQ.

Driver Pre-Qualification Checklist

Use this checklist to review your information before completing the Class A Jobs 411 Driver Pre-Qual & Carrier Match form.

  • Minimum Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
  • CDL License: Current, valid CDL (Class A/B/C).
  • Endorsements: HazMat, Tanker, Doubles/Triples, TWIC (if required).
  • Experience: Recent verifiable tractor-trailer experience (usually 6–12 months within past 3 years).
  • Employer History: List last 36 months of employers with dates (DOT requires 3 years, 10 years for safety-sensitive roles).
  • Accidents: Record any accidents in last 3 years; confirm DOT recordable vs. non-DOT.
  • Tickets/Violations: List tickets from last 3 years; note any serious violations (15+ MPH over, reckless, handheld, etc.).
  • Incidents: Count of minor safety incidents in last 3 years.
  • DUI/DWI: Know if any occurred within last 5–10 years (check conviction date).
  • Criminal History: Felonies and misdemeanors – confirm conviction/release dates.
  • Terminations: Note if terminated for safety reasons and when.
  • Drug/Alcohol Testing: Any failed/refused tests? Was SAP completed?
  • Medical: Current DOT Medical Card with at least 3 months remaining.
  • ZIP Code & Radius: Where you will start from and search mileage radius.
  • Preferences: Preferred run type (Local, Regional, OTR) and hometime (Daily, Weekly, etc.).

Tip: Having this information ready will speed up pre-qualification and reduce errors during recruiter review.
