What “Home Daily” Means
- Local routes: you start and finish at the same terminal or yard each shift, usually within a set radius of home.
- Dedicated home daily: you serve one customer or account on a regular schedule and return to the yard every day.
- Intermodal and port: container moves between rail ramps, ports and customers, typically finishing the day at the terminal.
- Yard jobs: spotter and yard jockey positions move trailers on site and are home every day.
Questions to Ask Before You Apply
- What time does the shift start, and does the start time change?
- How many hours is a typical shift, and is overtime paid?
- Are weekends, holidays or nights required?
- Is the freight no-touch, or is hand unloading required?
- Is the truck assigned to you, or is it a slip seat?
- How far from the terminal can you live and still be hired?
